So Many Games, So Little Time
So Many Games, So Little Time
When you first become the proud owner of your Nintendo Wii, you may find yourself faced with some tough choices. There are plenty of titles to choose from since the launch of the Wii in 2006, and your wallet may be begging for mercy by the time you’ve picked out all of the games that you would like to have. Don’t despair, there are a few things that you can do to make the most out of every gaming dollar.
- - Plan ahead. It’s actually a straightforward concept. You know that you want to purchase a Wii in a few months so you set aside a couple extra bucks a little at the time, so that you have some extra cash to spend and you can really treat yourself when you get to the store, ready to buy. Decided before you enter the store/website how much you can afford to spend.
- - Buy used. Consider looking for games that have been opened and played. It is true that buying previously owned games and accessories carries some risk, but if you shop around and ask the right questions, you might luck into a good deal on the Wii items that you want.
- - Look for bundles. Packages that include several games or accessories for one price can sometimes save you money over buying each item individually. Of course you’ll need to know the prices of each item separately ahead of time, but bundles are designed to be advantageous to the buyer.
- - Do your homework. Read several reviews of the titles that you are considering from different gaming sites. Consider what others have to say about the overall experience of the game or the performance of any accessory that you want to own. You may find that experienced gamers highly recommend a particular component that you wouldn’t have considered, or that they may have some valid reasons for choosing one game over another.
- - Make friends. Find a friend that has a Wii and work out a game sharing agreement. Buy games that they don’t have and offer to share your collection in return for playing some of their titles.
- - Try before you buy. When possible, visit an electronics store and play a demo of the game that interests you. A quick trial game can tell you more than dozens of reviews could.
- - Shop around. The price of a game from one store to the next may vary. Shave off a couple of bucks from your bill by finding which stores (including online!) are offering games at the lowest prices. Don’t forget that buying online means you won’t have to pay sales tax, but check out the shipping costs.
You already know that playing the Nintendo Wii will be exciting and fun. Make sure that you are getting the most bang for your buck by planning your Wii purchase ahead of time.
