3 out of 5 stars Good idea but needs improvement...   January 4, 2009
star wars gamer
I received this saber pack as a gift along with the Clone Wars game. Having played the game once before with only the wii remote, I knew how the game play should have been. Upon using the sabers as instructed, I found the game play was severely reduced. I needed to swing the remote numerous times to register it on the screen and got beat by the computer in the mean time. However, I took the batteries out of the sabers but kept using them and the game play went back to normal (or pretty close to normal). I sacrificed the glowing red and blue saber to get better game play but still got to use the sabers. If kids want to play each other I'll put the batteries back in for the glowing effect. They'll have fun either way. But to have a real fight simply take the batteries out. I'm sure they'll re-design it later on so there is no interference. I would still buy this again even knowing the flaw.

PS ~ Don't stand to close to your opponent.

1 out of 5 stars Save your money   January 1, 2009

These look great but as a controller for the Wii they are a total waste of money. They are heavy and the poor response from the controller makes it virtually unplayable. Pass.

1 out of 5 stars Avoid this product   January 1, 2009

This is a cheap, poorly designed product that is not worth purchasing and wisely avoided. I purcased it for my 6 year old to use to play with the Wii Clone Wars game, which is one of his Wii favorites These light sabers do not allow the Wii remote to function properly to control the light sabers. My son found that the remote and the nunchuck were much better with the Clone Wars game. I tested it and confirmed his opinion. Aside from this lack of functionality, the blue and red "colors" to the light saber are just cheap plastic wrappings that fly off when the light sabers are used.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed...doesn't register swinging action   December 30, 2008
Kyle R. Cubbage (Seattle, WA United States)
Though ascetically these are very cool, you are limited to the uses & interaction w/ the game. With the controls attached, you can use the buttons, but...

it doesn't register when you physically swing the saber.

The whole point of purchasing these was to play Clone Wars Light Saber Duels. With the remote plugged into the saber, all you can do is run around, glow w/ the force, jump, but not swing your character's saber. What's the point?

Save your expectations & buy a pair of toy sabers, get the same use out of them...and are probably more durable.

1 out of 5 stars Too heavy and awkward   December 30, 2008
JRW (Miwaukee, WI)
My son got these for Christmas and while they looked cool and are a great concept, they manufacturer just didn't execute well. They are too heavy and are not comfortable in your hand. My son took the remote out after only a few minutes and they are back in the box. Luckily one of the sabers didn't light up, so I'll be returning them.
