4 out of 5 stars works great   January 4, 2009

Works great!! follow the change recamended. but for me I had to unhook the red fan wire from the small circut board and hook to the black wire on the on off switch. took 10 min even after making the switch.

4 out of 5 stars Love this, It's Perfect for Any Wii Gamer   January 4, 2009

I used this product more than I used the Wii. I leave it on to keep my remotes charged. When it's charging there is a red light. When it's charged, it turns blue. Keeps me from having to buy batteries for my remotes. Best of all it keeps my Wii from over heating.

As I've read in other reviews the fact that the fan runs 24/7 is major down fall to this otherwise great product. To fix this problem I installed a switch on the front of the unit that controls the fan. It was an easy fix. I picked up a switch at Radio Shack ($3.00) and was ready to go. I opened the unit by removing the four rubber foot pads and removing the four screws. Once open I removed the tiny circuit board (2 screws). I unsoldered the black wire from the board, a quick easy step. I then replaced te circuit board using the two screws. I soldered two wires (about 4" long) off the two poles on the switch. I then soldered the black wire from the fan to one of the wires from the switch. After it cooled I taped up the connection. Next I soldered the remaining wire from the switch to one of the connections for the charger on the side. These are obvious to find. If in doubt plug in the unit and touch the wire to the connections to see if the fan activates (remember the switch might be in the off position so check it each way). You can also check the connection earlier by touching the unsoldered fan wire to the charger solder areas, this is what I did before I began the soldering. Once the final wire is soldered on just drill the correct size hole in the front of the unit and install the switch. The switch can not be positioned dead center as a post for attaching the base gets in the way. It may sound tedious but the process only took me about fifteen minutes and I am by no means an expert at soldering. It's an easy fix to a stupid problem. After you have finished it's up to you to remember to turn it on and off. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars it does teh job but could have been better   December 28, 2008

I bught the charger x mas 08. And have been using it every day. I looks cute and all with teh blue light, which is able to be turned off in the back, it does not turn of the fan, this will be only turned of whenthe wii is off. Even if you want to charge yoru remotes the wii has to stay on as it is connected to the charger. If you turn off teh wii you are not able to charge your remotes. So in my house the wii is on 24/7 its good it comes with a cooling fan. I also expected it to charge the batteries in like 2 or 3 hours but it takes a lot longer than that. It does teh job it charges and cools but it could have been better.

5 out of 5 stars Great bargin   December 26, 2008

Got my son a Wii for Christmas and this charger is great. If your kid plays as much as mine does than you know how fast batteries go. The product is fairly straight forward. It has a Wii stand with an air fan in the base and the two charging ports on each side. The batteries charge quickly but we haven't run them out yet so no comment to playtime. I would recommend this product to anyone with a Wii and an aversion to buying batteries.
