5 out of 5 stars You Go Maya!   March 7, 2010
T. M. Porter (Sherman Oaks, CA)
I bought my Wii for one purpose only, to work out. I bought the Wii Fit, it is fun, but it doesn't seem like much of a challenge, well except for the yoga, that is kind of hard. So, I wasn't too enthused about buying another game. Well, my fears were unfounded, because My Fitness Coach is great.

First of all, for those of us that have bought other workout games for the Wii, having to deal with both the Wii remote and the nunchucks can be a PITA! What I like about this game is that the only thing you use the remote for is to get it started. Other that that you use your own equipment such as a stability ball, hand weights, and an aerobic step.

Second, it gives you a fitness evaluation, so you can see your fitness level and it builds a program based on your evaluation and after a few workouts, it does another evaluation to see where you are and builds from there. Plus if you feel that you are working out too hard or not hard enough, all you have to do is press the "+" on the remote and you can change your level. You can also use that button to pause the game too.

Third, you can choose how long you want to workout anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour! This is a really great option for those days when you want to workout but don't have enough time. Let me tell you the 15 minute workout is no joke you will sweat. Also, you can pick the days you want to workout, so if you miss a workout, Maya will say something to you when you come back.

Finally, and most importantly, if you are not the most graceful, coordinated,or physically fit person in the world, you will have no problem working out with Maya. I am 43 years old, and very overweight, I had no problems keeping up with most of the exercises. Plus after each segment, Maya asks you how did it feel and if you say it was too hard or too easy she will adjust your program accordingly.

This is a great game that anyone can play, I recommend it highly.

4 out of 5 stars Why I like my Fitness Coach   March 5, 2010
Celia Engle (Alabama)
I bought this game because I wanted something I could do in the privacy of my own home. I don't like to work out in front of other people, and I read a lot of good reviews about it. And let me tell you, they didn't disappoint. The workouts are challenging without being impossible. I'm definitely out of shape, and I feel like I am doing my body a big favor every time I turn the game on.
I think the way the exercises progress is a big motivator. The scrolling bar at the bottom of the screen lets you know how much more you have to go, and it makes it possible to get that last little bit pumping through your veins. The moves also change frequently, so you don't get bored (which is a problem I have with the treadmills). Even if you are out of shape like me, this game gives you a real chance for improvement. I highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Reminds me of a workout DVD with feedback!   March 3, 2010
S. Gallager (East Texas, USA)
If you are used to workout DVDs and like them, this is the game for you. The exercise programs are set up a lot like a workout DVD, only you can give the trainer feedback. There isn't any fancy parts to this game like there is in the Wii Fit Plus, but it is still worth the money. It keeps track of your weight along with some other things like measurements and how many crunches you can do before you have to stop (part of the challenge feature). If you workout elsewhere you can add the minutes and type of exercise to it for workout credits. You don't get a graph to see these credits like in the Wii Fit Plus, but you do get graphs for your measurements and weight. You also set up a goal weight and it helps you get to it by recommending workout programs. And so far I've loved it. I just wish it could do a little more.

Oh and for people with a bad knee, ankle, leg or etc. This game does have a lot of movements that are similar to walking and squats. If you can walk, you can do the game pretty much though. I've got a busted leg from a car wreck and walk pretty well with a cane most days, and yet I can do this game. I don't always go the same pace as the game because of my leg, but most of the exercises are simple. I do use a chair to lean on from time to time during certain exercises, but I can still feel it working. For the rest I kind of just do the exercises my way or the best I can. So yeah, good game even for us injuried people unless you have a lot of trouble walking, moving side to side, and squating. Then the game isn't for you.

3 out of 5 stars Pretty good   February 27, 2010
palexi (Waukesha, WI United States)
I liked this game for the fact that it goes at a pace where you can pick up the moves easily. I also like that you don't have to hold the WII remote to do it. But, it's pretty much like an exercise video except the characters are animated. Although it's not as fun as Slim in 6 videos, this one is o.k.

5 out of 5 stars It took me forever...   February 25, 2010
Seaspray Cafe (NC)

It took me forever to finally decide on a fitness "game" for my Wii. I read reviews on every one out there. I called family and friends for their recommendations. I viewed page after page on Amazon and went to Target to look at all the equipment and add-ons myself. I finally decided on this one as much for the price as anything else and I'm very glad I did!

It doesn't take any special equipment and you don't even have to hold the remote in your hand to work out. No strapping things onto your thighs or upper arms. I was able to set it up myself without having to call my kids in another state.

The workouts are great. They are individualized for your current level of fitness and the time you have to perform them. They take into account whatever equipment you do (or don't) have lying around. They allow you to get extra "credit" for the other things you do all day like walking the dog or yoga. I especially love the fact that as you work out it will occasionally ask you how you're feeling (yes you have to go grab the remote then) and then make sure to tweak your next workout to reflect that.

I am extremely out of shape. 20 minutes into the cardio routine I was laying on the floor gasping and looking for a pause button. By doing a little input I was able to tone the workout down enough for me to complete it and it has gradually gotten harder to challenge me and keep me reaching.

I would definitely recommend this product especially if you have limited funds as there are no extra's to buy. It's also good for someone like myself who has little to no experience playing games, etc. It is very easy to set up and use. The backgrounds are nice but not something I would worry about or notice anyway since I mainly concentrate on trying to survive yet another 15 minutes. The "trainer" is strangely supportive considering that she is electronic. I find myself wanting to please her by going to just a little further each day. All the music sounds like 80's to me but I love 80's so no problem.

Buy it. You'll enjoy it. And it will make you sweat!
