Battery life is Insanely short September 6, 2010

I got this sensor bar to eliminate the need of having a wired connection due to my main TV source being a projector. It is impossible for me in my current set up to have the wire from the wii (that sits by where I am sitting) to be all the way where my projector screen is. I am soon moving and my set up will no longer be like this, but at the current rate it was a great solution.

Pros:

- Wireless
- White (Matches the default Wii Color Scheme
- 2 Auto - Off Button settings
- Standard and Wide Range settings

Cons:

- Big bulky and heavy (Its so big and bulky its almost impossible to sit atop most TV's or just under tripod Projector Screens
- Battery Cover is very difficult to remove
***Burns through batteries like Crazy (I get about 5 to 5 and half hours per 4x AA batteries on mine.***

This product would have been great, but do to the major flaw of battery life. I cannot recommend nor give it a high star rating. When I get wii games or have wii parties, This sensor bar will usually die or show the low battery warning on a fresh set of batteries before the session is over. That is absolutely ridiculous. So judging by my play-style, I would have to go through 4x AA batteries ever 1-2 days of playing on the Wii.

In using this with Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlusI notice a remarkable improvement in the detection of movement of the remote controller.

The bowling ball seems to travel along it's intended trajectory better without me having to compensate in my starting position.

For all my Wii products I use rechargeable batteries (specifically Sanyo Eneloop 8 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries ) so for me the rate that it goes through batteries is not as big of an issue. It does have a power off feature so while not in use it does not continue to suck battery life.

This thing works great but you only get about 6 hours of game play out of it (and it takes 4 batteries!!). I've had this for about a month and am ready to throw it away to save money.

Like others have said, the battery contacts break off. I went to change the batteries for the first time since I bought it and two contacts broke off.
Don't buy this. What a piece of junk.
